# What Makra is

Makra is a Python SDK for extracting structured data from public web pages. Describe the fields you need, pass URLs to the client, and receive a Python object for each page.

Use it for product catalogs, job boards, property listings, article archives, public directories, review pages, search results, and specification tables.

## Extract a product in a few lines

Set `MAKRA_API_KEY`, then describe the data you want in plain language.

```python
from makra import Makra
url = "https://shop.example/products/atlas-lamp"
with Makra() as client:
    response = client.extract([url], {"price": "The current selling price"})
print(response["data"][url]["price"])
```

Choose a blocking call for a script or request handler, stream progress when people need live updates, or submit a deferred run for a queue or background worker.

Makra returns text from the page. Parse and validate prices, dates, units, and other domain values in your application after extraction.
